Don Richmond is a Singer/Songwriter, Music Director, Composer, Music Producer, Arranger and Mixer. He is known for his diverse portfolio, and is often associated with the catchy melodies he writes, as well as numerous radio hits over the years. His work has bagged him 2 Compass awards, 2 Life Theatre Awards, 1 SPH award for Production and 1 Creative Circle award for Best Music. Don has also scored music for movies, theatre and even directed music for the 2011 World Netball Championships and the 2010 Youth Olympic Games. On a sporting tip, he wrote and arranged the theme music for The Lions XII and the theme song for Mixed Martial Arts promoter ONEFC. His writing and productions skills have also ensured that artists such as Taufik Batisah, Hardy Mirza, Mark Bonafide, Sylvia Ratonel, 53A, Vanessa Fernandez and Alicia Pan all have hits that get stuck in listeners' heads. His musical theatre work reached commercial height with 2014’s Ah Boys To Men The Musical where he showcased versatility not only as a Music Director and Composer, but also a lyricist by writing mandarin and even hokkien lyrics. Don was also on the National Arts Council's Noise Programme as Music Mentor from 2008 to 2014. This stint as music mentor spurred on many collaborations with his apprentices and most notably, producing and shaping the success of Shigga Shay’s Singles Lim Peh, Lion City Kia and Shigga In The Morning. You can hear Don’s work on Mediacorp’s numerous TV series over the years, with The 5 Show, The 5 Search and Spouse For House, 2019 saw Don score two tv series, After Love and Mixed Signals where he also wrote both theme songs for the two series. Don also served as a composer, producer, and arranger on Dr Sydney Tan’s music production team for the 2015 SEA GAMES and SG50 Edition of the National Day Parade. Don’s most recent movie score offerings are SG50’s 7 Letters and the Royston Tan directed 3688. In 2016, he created a soundscape for the video installation ‘A Moment Of Unity’ to commemorate the 1st year anniversary of the passing of Mr Lee Kuan Yew. He was the Music Director of NDP2016 and also wrote the music and lyrics for the theme song ‘Tomorrow’s Here Today’. Most recently, Don was the music director onboard a stellar production: From Singapore To Singaporean, commissioned by the Prime Minister’s Office to commemorate the Bicentennial Celebrations for Singapore.
